Ideology

  •  We strive to teach children responsibility, how to resolve conflicts between each other, and to succeed at play activities that develop social skills, pre-reading abilities, physical agility, self-confidence, and self-esteem. At K.I.D.S. school (Kauai Independent Daycare Services) in Kapaa, the mantra is "We never give up on a child."

Learning Center Module

  1. Structured learning environments arranged according to left and right brain functions are provided for preschool and pre-kindergarten children.
  2. The goal of developing the whole child includes both the cognitive (knowledge) skills along with the social, emotional, and physical being of the child.
  3. To fit the diversity of our children, this module is highly individualized according to each's ability level and learning style, in order to ensure success daily.

Anti Bullying & Resolution Empathy Process

  1. Our program strongly believes we should start early and teach an anti-bullying process, from the bottom up, much as we teach reading readiness at a young age.
  2. Research tells us that 90% of our children's social and emotional growth develops between the critical ages of 0-5.
  3. Empathy calms people down. When the brain perceives empathy, the vagus nerve relaxes the body. Children must experience empathy on a regular basis to become good at expressing it.
  4. A 5-step resolution/empathy process is successfully used at K.I.D.S.  School. It engages the instigator, the reactor, and any "by-standers," especially the adult in a communication process for any and every incident whether physical or verbal.
  5. By using this process we hope the resolution of problems and conflict with become automatice with our children of any age.
